Amanda accidentally runs into a terrorist with her car and tracks him down to repay him the extra money he gave her for car repairs. His landlady, Millicent McDonald, who is a violinist, is found murdered soon after and Amanda searches for the terrorist using the woman’s diary. They track him down as he tries to bomb a diplomatic reception at a hotel with many top Washington dignitaries due to attend. He dies from his own bomb, but everyone else is saved.
I want to thank Crystal (Swoopes) for allowing me to link to her site and for all her hard work on providing these screen captures. Please check out the rest of her site when you have a minute. She has done a wonderful job!
1. Hope no one else was in the building when they blew it up. 2. Nice try hiding in the open like that. Must go believe in the theory that if I don't look at him he won't be able to see me and I won't be picked. Sounds plausible, not really effective though when put into practice. He so knows Billy was gonna pick him regardless. He even starts to protest before Billy has said anything. Think Jack (Was that the guy's name?) married a younger woman? He's been giving this orientation for 20 years, add another 5 or so cause he wouldn't be a rookie giving it. The youngest he could be when he started would be say 22 (either college or army experience). That means he'd have to be 47 or so. If his wife is the same age, boy is she brave having a baby at almost 50. Don't you just love it when someone gets the best of Lee? Give up guy, you can't fight city hall. 3. Stay calm. Great advice. No wonder this insurance is so expensive. Too funny. I like that she actually has a card in the glove box and that she checks it before getting out. The bit about him being Rupert Andretti was good too, sarcastic, but funny. Love her face too... great. Just what I need, a smart alec. 4. Does he not see her writing down his plate? Quick, before we get to the next part (like you're reading this scene by scene as you watch). What is her memory sentence for his plate? UWB 115. I know I will never be able to look at those 3 letters together again without thinking Uncle Wigglely's birthday. 5. How come Amanda's car isn't damaged when she pulls into IFF after the accident? 6. What, ya bucking for sainthood? Yeah. Like how she knows the computer system so well that: 1. He lets her do all that work and 2. She knows the security issues and how to get around them. Sounds like she is being her ever resourceful self and knows how to skirt some security levels. The only reason she is even asking here is because she hasn't had time to play with the new clearance level. 7. I'm not a big gambler. Can someone explain what she means when she says you're not supposed to handicap the horses at Saratoga either? Obviously Lee is betting on the ponies. Is he getting helpful info from their files? Is that what she means? Sounds like our little spy girl is building up a file on Lee for later use. Wonder what else she has in that file. 8. This is one busy morning. We’ve been to the house, the store, the train station, the house again (so she could change), the auto body shop, the agency and now out and about to look for money man. All this is well before the 1 o'clock meeting. 9. Bolton sure makes it to the door fast for having been asleep. He even has his robe on and tied. 10. Whoa! Stop the train. At the door she tells Mr. Jones she hit his car yesterday outside the hardware store. Can’t be yesterday. For one thing Lee is in the same clothes (not that that proves much with our clothes guy). Billy said the orientation was today at 1. Lee agrees to help her if she helps him with his speech for that afternoon. Then they go to find the car. It has to be the same day. Time guy? What’s the deal? Are you playing tricks on us? Seeing if we are paying attention? Well, we are so cut that out *fingers make scissors motion and then out motion* for emphasis. 11. Why is Lee even there? Don’t get me wrong, I'd enjoy his company any time too. But she just asked him to run a check on the plates. Doesn't he have a speech to write? Does she not have her car and he is playing chauffeur? How’d she get to work if her car was in the shop already? Lee pick her up? How nice. 12. When is she planning on going over his notes? She doesn't have them with her and it has to be getting close to 1 by now. I think she just tells him that to make him go away. Funny to see Amanda re-nig on her end of a deal. Let’s see that’s other people besting Lee 2 - Lee 0. 13. You have to fill out all of these? Ahem… I mean… Bet they had fun playing off of each other. Bet she really liked sliding that crack about his shoes in there. In case you don't know, the new recruit here is one of BB's sisters. Notice the facial features and smile. Count is now others 3 - Lee 0. 14. Margaret… Millicent. Whatever, they both begin with an M don't they? Isn’t he just so creepy in this scene? Those eyes are so penetrating and dark. The way he just stares at her, not saying a word. Waaha. Gives me the hibbie jeebies just thinking about it. 15. I thought this was an orientation. You know stuff like shifts, where the lunchroom is, filling out W-4s, health insurance forms, etc. Why is he detailing foreign terrorists? Especially ones that have been supposedly dead for 2 years. Who cares if he's dead? Fairly recently? Others 4 - Lee 0. I don't think he buys her I’m sorry as she enters. Do you? Gee, I wonder how these guys got their nicknames... the German, the Italian, the Dutchman. Talk about original. Leave it to Amanda to crash into an international terrorist. 16. Why doesn't Sahli kill Amanda? No, I'm glad he didn’t. Just wondering what stopped him. He was moving towards her, unraveling the wire thingy and then just stops. Was he about to make his move and then she found the body and yelled for Lee? I think he still would've had time before lee could respond. Love how when she yells he comes running with gun at the ready. Really like the comforting "hey" and arm wrap. He knows she doesn't like dead bodies and even less so when she knows the person (i.e. Marianna). Such a sweetie. 17. How is that new and improved version if it was invented by the French in WW2? He is really dating himself in this ep. Even her knowledge of weapons is expanding. She knows what a garrote (anyone?) is and that it's similar to the touché de la veuve (or whatever). It was Sahli's trademark. Still is. Hasn’t Billy learned by now that when she latches on to an idea she will not let it go? He must be impressed that she can even get Lee to defend her sighting without much evidence or seeing for himself. He is not someone easily swayed and Billy knows that. Why did Millie hide her diary? They that anxious to prove her point? Love Billy’s reaction to their exit. LOL Oh brother. 18. Just call her Mrs. Colombo (actually wasn't that Capt. Janeway?). Love her detective work. She figures all that stuff out without turning a page. She keeps referring to different dates yet never turns a page when reading to Lee. With just quick little mentions, Amanda picks up on the music, the candy and the type of job he has. Excellent work. There is no tomorrow. Wanna bet? Remember, Amanda is involved. 19. Please wait until the bus has come to a full and complete stop before disembarking. We hope you had a nice trip. Please ride with us again. Bye bye now. 20. Man, are these people early risers or what? The restaurant guy says Sahli comes buy at 7 for his breakfast. Amanda is there prior to that and Lee is coming into the bullpen at that time. I hate morning people. 21. I wouldn't think of it (following him). LIAR! That is exactly what you do. Where is Sahli staying now? Must be close for him to continue his morning rituals. Did the hoagie guy just spoil her surprise? He looks like he points out a direction. At least she realized the alley is unsafe and turns around. Why she heads to an empty park instead of the crowded cafe if she feels unsafe (which she clearly does) is beyond me though. She told Lee to meet her at the restaurant. He won't know where she's gone. At 7 in the a.m. the park would be empty so there'd be no help there either. The hailing of the cab is to get away from him, she knows he's following her, is a smart thing to do. Even though she's supposed to be meeting Lee in a few minutes, she can always explain why she couldn't. I’m sure he'd much rather have her safe. Enjoy that there's no dialogue. Kinda adds to the drama. 22. How does Lee get in front of her to grab her (which must freak her out for a second)? Just a second ago he was running towards her. Super powers activate! Bet all of his doubts are erased now. Even though his view was from a distance, he knows it was Sahli now. Love the stern look as he watches him board the bus. Yeah, you better run. 23. It must be some affliction. Lee apparently just can't park the Vette straight. He does the butt in the lane thing again. One of these days someone is going to clip him and then what? 24. Amanda seems to be the kiss of death in this ep. First Millie and now the hoagie guy. If I were Lee, I'd be careful. 25. You mean she hasn't set the record yet? I would have thought for sure she'd be way out in front of that race. LOL Love how she talks her way of his reprimand. When did she do this note card thing? When inspiration hit in the Q.B.? She doesn't take any cards and she leaves the diary on the desk. She make these from memory? 26. Why is the head guy (the one bugging Fran) still setting stuff up as guests arrive (pushing the cart)? And why is he even setting up? He’s the head guy. 27. And who are those dressed up people we see going through a security guy if the guests aren't supposed to start coming for a few more minutes? 28. Calm down Fran. Geez. We believe you. We know you would never do a slipshod job. Love how she deals with the catering guy. Guess you'll just have to fix them yourself. Now, be gone with you. 29. I don't think Amanda heard any of that. You can see she's pondering the electricity and the bulbs. The wheels are turning… a connection is almost made… got it. Lee? Ever so soft, but to his ears loud and clear. Guess Billy believes her now. He doesn't even ponder the possibilities that Amanda could be wrong. (Has she ever?) He just yells for everyone to clear the room. Did you notice the little hand squeeze Lee gives Amanda before going off to find the main power trunk? His little way of saying good job. 30. Oops. Way to sneak up on him super spy. Even he berates himself for that one. Must miff him being shot at with his own gun. It is. Watch the scene again if you don't believe me. Lee drops it and picks up the pipe. After Sahli hits him, he grabs the gun and runs. It’s a wonder they even give Lee a gun... always losing it. Poor guy. 31. Ok, explain this. Sahli set the timer. He knows about how much time is left. He knows he set it for this room… Why does he choose to go in there? With Fran as a hostage he could go anywhere he wants. Makes no sense to go into a room you know is going to explode at any second. 32. Um.. Thanks Billy. I can see the bulbs are about to blow. What do you want me to do? Can’t you yell at Fran just as well as I can? Isn’t that a great explosion? Especially when the stuff is flying directly at us? Great job explosion guy. You deserve a raise (I think I’ll take it from logic guys' pay). How is Fran's table the only one not upturned? It’s secured to the floor? Good choice on which table to crawl under I guess. I’d go buy a lottery ticket with her luck. 33. Nice to know that Lee does pass on Amanda’s contributions to Billy. He almost had to on this one. There wasn't a case without Amanda. Because of her persistence, 100s of lives including Bush's, are saved. Woohoo! Way to save the day and Fran. Surely she would've been blamed. Think Fran realizes that? Realizes probably, ever says anything never. 34. This has got to be the all time best line Fran delivers… I don't know what his problem is, look at my hair. That had me rolling for 5 minutes. I think the deadpan style it’s delivered in helps. 35. You and me? Like a couple of normal people? Let’s give it a try. Yeah. They almost seem giddy with anticipation, both with big smiles. 36. I baked a cake and then baked another. How many of you bakers do that? With my skills I'd be happy the one turned out and count my lucky stars at that. 37. Top 5 tag. One of the best near-miss kisses. Starts slow…a throat clear, a shared look and a smile. Bit faster… cakes placed aside, hands go to each other, a word is spoken but quickly silenced. Even faster… hand to face, lips barely brush and then…. A car door slams. Darn family, what is with being back a day early? Where's Jamie and why are they home early? It’s not raining. Like a whirlwind he is out the door and she is to the sink (Why? Won't Dottie still notice the 2 cups or the 2 cakes on the table?) and then to the door herself, hoping he hasn't left yet. It'd be a shame to end the evening like that she thinks to herself. Not to disappoint her, he waits and grabs her as she comes out. I just love the little jump she does when he pulls her. He knows the moment is lost, but not completely. With a look that could melt ice, he tells her everything she has been waiting for. As a promissory note for another time, they share a small kiss and he vanishes into the night. The little kiss is so sweet and the teasing of another is great. Realizing her future, she smiles a smile full of hope and dreams.
