A chance meeting at a train station brings together one of the Agency's best teams. On the run from bad guys, Lee Stetson hands Amanda King a package and tells her to get on the train and give it to the man in the red hat. When she gets on, she finds the train car full of men in red hats. Stetson, a spy known as Scarecrow, must get the package back from her. Thus begins their unique partnership.
I want to thank Crystal (Swoopes) for allowing me to link to her site and for all her hard work on providing these screen captures. Please check out the rest of her site when you have a minute. She has done a wonderful job!
Special thanks to Claudia for all her hardwork in transcribing all the season one episodes! Be sure and check out the rest of Claudia's site too.
1. Is that Stewart or Stuart? Just checking. Wouldn’t want to spell your name wrong. 2. Explain please. The bad guys fire one shot, we see the lamppost shatter and the agent go down. How did that happen? Single bullet theory at work here too? 3. So when do you think Amanda moved? Not only is the outside different, but the inside except for the kitchen looks totally different too. Outside has no fence, stairs leading to walkway and 3 dormers. Inside has a fireplace and a couple of rooms I didn't recognize. Wonder how she could afford to move with no visible means of income (yet). 4. I know we've discussed this before. If they've only just got divorced a year ago that means they were married for 9 years (Philip’s forever 10). Based on what we learn in wrong way home that means they were separated for 5-6 years. I know it can happen, its just something that bugs me. 5. Absolutely, no question about it, the best scene of the series. You know the one. Love the close ups on both. And that "please"…who could say no to that? Just tugs at your heart. Thank the weather god for that 35% chance of rain. Trusting his instincts and the fates, he grabs an angel for help. Just walk with me- begging her. I certainly will not- taken too much by surprise. Please? I'm in trouble- looking at her for the first time. No. I gotta go- turns to leave. Wait! Just one more thing- grabbing her, forcing her to look at him. Please? Searching. No. I'm in trouble. Please? - willing her to see his desperation. Wanting to avoid his eyes she looks away. Please? Making her look back at him. Closing her eyes, trusting her instincts and the fates, she readies herself and asks... What is it you want me to do? Relief washes over him as he instructs her.... baptizing her in the spy business; a business she's been destined for. 6. Just how did Lee work it out so they'd be in front of the right car at that time? He was pretty busy up to that point-- running, hiding, catching strangers, pleading. Super power emerging? The power of location? 7. Someone was in a hurry. Watch as Lee walks to the Georgetown foyer. The car he came from pulled up along the curb to park. As Lee walks you can see a car parked behind his car. I didn't even see a car behind his car as it drove up. So when do you think they hired Mrs. Marsten? Or at least place her in the Georgetown lobby? 8. Which agency layout do you like better? This one where the hallway seems so big, you need to ride carts to get around and the elevator moves or the other one? My vote is the familiar one. This one seems too big. 9. "Straighten your badge". There's the tie in from “Suitable for Framing”. I'm actually amazed the writers in 4th season thought to tie in with the first. Bravo. 10. Dirk or Smythe? I'll go with Smythe. He rhymes and is fun to hate. Dirk is just a bureaucrat with an interesting voice. Aren't they in Georgetown? Why is Warner referred to as the G.T. operative if they are? Won't all of them be G.T. ops? And how did the bad guys get Guthrie (man in red hat)? They were chasing Lee and he was on the train. Oh the confusion. 11. Ok. This has to be the best frozen moment. Check out the orange paper on the fridge as Amanda is pondering calling. "Toto I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore." Isn't that great? I also like the scarecrow on the kitchen door. Weren't they clever in this ep? 12. Just how did he find her at the drive-in? He was with her at the station for maybe 2 minutes and no info was exchanged. If he followed her there how did he know where to start following her from? She could've been from anywhere in the DC/Arlington area (I’m assuming that's a fairly large area). He even admits at the morgue he doesn't know who she is. Logic guy earning his keep from the beginning. And why is she leaving the drive-in? I'd want to make arrangements to get rid of the package after seeing what happened at the train station. Just don't understand why she is mad. 13. Number on the card is 202-547-9986. Not the number he tells the general in “A Matter of Choice”. Guess they had to switch numbers at some point. I know, during Possum. 14. And wasn't that the fastest connection-- from switchboard to Lee in a split second. Good thing he was waiting by the phone too. Not sure that's the best tactic to use. The freak out tactic. Have you noticed any strange cars? That's good. 15. You could have sent me for private lessons. With what money? She said she's looking for work. I'd think anything they get would be for food and house. And don't you have your own money? Dotty some kind of freeloader here? 16. Hey! Don't yell at her. I think that is brilliant strategy. Makes sense to me that he couldn't kill her at this meet without the package. And can you get a little worked up about the Porsche? Geez, calm down. Don't tell me he doesn't love this car. 17. Oh, Pax. I sing your woes. I miss the shot of him on the stairs in that tux and of course the lines "I thought only spies and Nazis say that." "Well, I'm not a Nazi". 18. Listen to Lee just as he takes off in the garbage cart. He lets loose with a woohoo. Too funny. Ride 'em cowboy. 19. So is this how our packages are sorted by the post office? No wonder they take so long to arrive. And do you think they went to jail? Assuming the cops are the ones who caught them. Think Billy bailed them out? Did you hear what Pax left in? I was totally surprised. They usually edit that word. In case you missed it, the word could hold back water if it adds an n. 20. Think Phillip gets this gift from Amanda also? His amazing ability to rewrap the package so Dotty could mail it. Extraordinarily talented he is for Dotty not to have noticed it. 21. I'm going to assume the fireplace scene (where'd that furnishing disappear to?) was the next night. Ya with me? They met at the party at 5, assume 6:30 at Amanda's to dry off, 7:30 at Lee's to change and then 3 hours at the post office, and another couple for them to explain their way out. About 1-ish? Way too late for the snuggling. 22. ...even mess things up. He didn’t just say that did he? Unbelievable. She saved his life, got chased by bad guys in a trolley car and broke into the post office all to help him with his idea. Did he even say thank you? I don't think so, instead he insults her. I'm glad she gives him what for. And did you notice the confusion on his face? I don't think he's accustomed to being taken to task like that, not even by Billy. You go girl. 23. Is that alley from Stemwinder-- when he wakes up after being drugged by Alexi? Sorry, it’s a question for those who have seen the unpaxed version. 24. Wonder who took the picture of Lee in the waiter outfit standing against a train (photo guy uses to ID Lee). I thought it was just the 2 guys chasing him that day. 25. She must have the radio on super high to hear it over the vacuum. And no, it's not the TV. That's by the bookcase and you can see it's off. Which brings up another question…. How many exercise programs does your local radio station play? Do like the vacuum calisthenics though. 26. Ok, the yellow flowers must mean something. Anyone know? They are all over the kitchen in this ep and are in at least one vase in every ep, usually on the island. I mean every ep. I watched last run. 27. How is Dotty supposed to take the boys (troop) home? She doesn't drive. I hate to be on that bus with that group of terrorizers. 28. 2 best lines of many in this ep. Clams again dear? and I hope I can look back on this and laugh someday. Trust me, you will. 29. Why does she recognize Fran in the kitchen? They hadn't met yet. Actually... (thumping head, thinking) there is a scene where they meet isn't there. He takes her to the agency for some reason and Fran is sitting in the cart reading (opening credits), mentions her cooking lessons and insults Amanda somehow. It’s all coming back to me. Another great scene paxed. Uggghhh! 30. So Amanda leaves her keys in the car too? Maybe that's why she never yelled at him when he did it. Reformed key forgetter. 31. Isn't the whole helicopter scene the best scene? It has it all. Guns, action, music, great flying skills, close calls and laughter. How am I doing? You're doing just fine. Open your eyes. What are you wearing? What do you care? 32. That’s fast news they got. The story about the cooking show is on in the background as Amanda sets the table. Love the looks on the family's faces. 33. Best amandaramble ever. Has to be the longest one too. That dishwasher of hers comes in handy in several eps. Mustn't be a Maytag, all the repair she needs to do on it. Always enjoy Lee's nervousness, Fran's unbelievability and Billy’s fascination and the "WHAT?" Billy gets from Lee about her working there… priceless.
